A little Background

Jenna & Amory reached out to me with the desire to ditch a traditional wedding and elope in Maui. Being from a really cold part of Canada, Hawaii sounded like the perfect location to commit their lives to each other.

When we began e-mailing Jenna & Amory had a completely open mind and didn’t have any solid ideas of what they wanted to elopement to look like. All they wanted was for it to be intimate. I love when my couples come to me open-minded. That’s when I get to put together a list of amazing locations and really “wow” them with the Maui that I love. I grew up on Maui, so sharing the most beautiful sights makes me really excited.

The Location

Jenna and Amory decided on Honolua Bay for a first look and Kapalua Ironwoods for their ceremony. Honolua Bay is straight out of a fairytale. The green vines hanging from the tree feel so magical. When you’re in the forest, you can hear the birds chirping and you just feel at peace. After the first look, we headed to Kapalua Ironwoods, also called Oneloa Beach, for the ceremony. Jenna & Amory wanted two totally different locations and these two spots totally delivered.

First Look

You might be wondering about the logistics of having a first look when you’re having a destination elopement. The couple rented a Maui vacation condo with a loft so Jenna and Amory were able to get ready in the same place without seeing each other. When it was time to go to the location, Amory left first and Jenna got a ride and left a few minutes later. Getting a taxi or Uber is really easy in Hawaii.

The Ceremony

After the first look, we explored more around Honolua Bay before we drove to Oneloa Beach to officially get them married! Kahu Kale did their ceremony at the rugged cliffside. This beach is popular for elopements, so I love that Jenna & Amory decided to do the ceremony of the cliff edge instead. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that done! Jenna & Amory wrote personal vows to each other and it was the sweetest thing ever!! The officiant stepped away when they read their vows to each other so it was completely private and personal. I love that he did that.

After the ceremony, we hung out around the cliffs and then down to the beach for more photos! We shot until we completely ran out of light.

Jenna & Amory – Thank you SO much for having me there to capture your Maui adventurous elopement!! I had so much fun with you two and felt so dang honored to witness it.

From the couple:

Stephanie did such a great job on our elopement photos. There are so many photographers to pick from in Maui but I’m so happy we choose her to capture our day. She has exceeded my expectations and has been amazing from day one. Planning an elopement from another country can be stressful but she relieved the stress by answering all my questions promptly. She also gave me vendor recommendations and helped us when it came time to choosing our officiant and elopement location. I gave her my vision and she helped me pick the most beautiful location I could have ever imagined getting married! The day of our elopement she made us feel so comfortable, even went out of her way to pick me up for our first look photos. It never felt like we just hired someone to take our photos it felt more like we had a friend there to capture our day. To top it off we loved all the photos in our gallery and didn’t have to wait long to receive them! Thanks so much Stephanie!
