Jenna and Jason came to Maui all the way from Australia to celebrate a family members destination wedding. While they were here, they figured they might as well get engagement photos taken!
I always feel so lucky when I get to photograph Australian couples because they are always the sweetest people! Seriously, I haven’t met an Australian I didn’t like love.
Together, we picked Maui’s North Shore for their location. I’ve lived on Maui since I was 7 years old, so I know all of the best locations. Helping my couples find an elopement location that’s exactly what they’re looking for makes me so happy.
With photography sessions on Maui’s North Shore, there is one thing to keep in mind. Rain. This part of the island is wetter than the other areas, so it’s always a possibility. When it looked like it was going to be heavy rain, we rescheduled the session for the next day. I always make sure to have room in my schedule to reschedule a session by a day or two if needed. It rarely happens, but when it does, I know my couples really appreciate it.
Jenna and Jason wanted a mixture of lifestyle photos along with elopement photos. We started the session with Jenna and Jason in their “normal” day-to-day clothing for a bit and then changed into their wedding clothes.
Something that I always do for sessions is to ask my couples what type of music they like to listen to. I send out a short questionnaire a few weeks beforehand to collect fun information like that! When Jenna and Jason answered with “early 2000’s pop,” I knew we were going to have a good time. Let’s just say there was a lot of classic Brittany Spears playing.
