Wedding Regrets from Brides

Wedding Regrets from Brides

A few months ago I did a survey on Instagram where I asked married people “If you could change one thing about your wedding what would it be?!” I loved reading through the responses.Ā  I realized how helpful it would be to those planning their wedding. So, I’ve compiled the top responses for you! If you’re getting married soon, you’ll want to read these wedding regrets from brides.

More Flowers

I got this response a ton!! As a general rule of life: flowers make everything better. The same thing goes for weddings: flowers make them better. I know that weddings are expensive, but flowers (as well as photography ;)) isn’t something that you should skimp on. Unlike certain table decor (think burlap…), flowers are timeless. You will never wish you had fewer flowers on your wedding day. Promise.

Smaller Bridal Party or No Bridal Party

I’ve never heard someone say they wish they had a larger bridal party. Keeping the wedding party small and intimate always seems to be something past brides wish they had done. I had 5 bridesmaids in my wedding and while I love them all SO much, I totally could have had 0. I’ve been seeing more and more couples having just 1 or 2 people in their wedding party. A lot of times it’s a sibling. It’s so cute when my brides have there brother as a “bridesmaid” and vice versa. The point that I’m trying to get across is that you don’t have to have X amount of people in your wedding party because it’s the tradition. You can do whatever the heck you want šŸ™‚

Wedding Planner

Trust me on this one. You need to hire a wedding planner!! There is so much that goes into planning a wedding and you don’t want to do it all on your own… especially if you’re a destination couple. Planning a wedding at a location that you aren’t familiar with gives you all the more reason to hire a coordinator. You don’t want to be worrying about flowers, table designs, who the best vendors are, etc. Let a Wedding Coordinator help you so that you can enjoy every moment of your wedding day. My favorite Maui Wedding Planners are Opihi Love and K.H & Co.

Booked a Day Before or Day After Session

I have an entire blog post dedicated to this topic. You can (and definitely should) read it here!

Fewer Guests – Just Close Friends and Family

I hear this all the time… “I wish we had fewer guests.” When we were planning our wedding, we made sure to only invite people we knew we’d be friends with 10-years from now. Some couples want to invite everyone they know to have a fun party. We wanted just our closest friends and family. Don’t feel guilty about not inviting people. It is your wedding after all!

I love this so much!! Such great advice and tips for brides!

ALL super spot-on recommendations. I plan to renew my vows in a couple of years and these are all going to play a key role in making it better than my wedding!!

Great tips to take into consideration when planning your own wedding!

Incredibly stellar photography! I love the bit about the bridal party. It is so important to remember that wedding day can be whatever we want it to be.

I love this post!
When I look back on the day I got married I would have done things different and 100% would have stopped giving a F about what others thought and would have done it my way (not get married)

Now, Iā€™d 100% elope.

Great blog post!!!

Great blog post!!!

As someone that got married before I was in the wedding industry, I totally agree with this!!! It’s such great insight for brides that are getting married, to know what other people wish they would have. All the yes, sir!

I’ve always wondered what other photographers who are already married would do if their wedding was today! Sounds like you have an epic vow renewal already half planned then šŸ˜‰
