Kapalua Ironwoods Elopement

Like a lot of couples who decide to elope, Carly & Jared wanted to make sure their wedding was intimate and stress-free. They had been dreaming of a trip to Maui and figured that there’s no better place to elope! They originally found my work through Jenna & Amory’s Kapalua Ironwoods Elopement. You can click HERE to see it! What drew them in was the idea of having a cliffside ceremony and also being able to have photos on the beach. The best of both worlds 🙂

No rain no rainbow

Carly & Jared stayed at The Montage Kapalua, which was just a 2 minutes (literally) drive from the ceremony location at Kapalua Ironwoods. I love this area of Maui because it’s away from the more touristy areas and really quiet. This side of the island is more prone to rain and that’s exactly what we got! While we originally planned to have the first look in a forest, it was downpouring rain, so we found the next best spot! The grassy hillside overlooking the ocean and a huge rainbow was so magical. It really couldn’t have been perfect. One thing that I LOVED about Carly & Jared, is that they weren’t mad about the rain. They knew rain is something we can’t control, so why worry about it.. ya know?

The very best part about an overcast Kapalua Ironwoods Elopement? An empty beach! In Hawaii, all beaches are public. This means there’s nothing you can do if other people are on the beach. It’s a great rule because it means no one can come out here and buy a beach. If there’s sand, it’s public and everyone has the right to access it. However, this also means there’s no way of ensuring you don’t have any bystanders watching your private ceremony.

With the clouds in the sky, we knew people wouldn’t be hanging out on the beach. I only recommend elopement locations that I know will give you a private experience. The last thing I want is for you to get married with strangers close by.

A review from the bride:

“WOW. We are absolutely blown away. I could take an entire week (or a year) typing to you to send you an email on how happy we are with your services-even before we saw this final shots-THESE WERE THE CHERRY ON TOP of something I thought could not get any better! You have been absolutely amazing to work with from day 1. I honestly fell in love with your work from the minute I found you online and actually told Jared from when we originally started researching that no matter what we chose to do for our wedding, I wanted you as a photographer. Best decision ever!!

I don’t think your clients could ever thank you enough for your work-everything from your initial consultations, to our phone call before we flew out, to picking me up the day of, relocating for the first look when it was pouring rain, and than every second from thereafter. Everything was so easy and stress-free (thanks to you). Our friends and family have all commented asking us for your name and where I managed to find you-everyone is blown away by the quality of the photographs.”

This is so beautiful! I totally agree no rain, no rainbows. My favourite days are always the cloudy days and rainbow surprise is the best!
