Maui Elopement Photographer – Shelby & Samaya

ELOPEMENT FEATURED Honolua Bay Nakalele Blowhole WEDDING

When Shelby & Sam reached out to me to be their Maui Elopement Photographer I was SO excited. Shelby actually proposed to Sam while they were visiting Maui the year prior. For the wedding, they wanted to have the ceremony on the same beach they got engaged at – A secret one in Makena.

From Shelby’s initial e-mail I knew we were going to be a great fit. He emphasized that they wanted something minimal on details and maximum on ‘wow factor’. He also said, “we don’t like being the center of attention, hence the elopement, but we do desire something unique and special.” This is something that, as a Maui Elopement photographer, I really appreciate. It’s often assumed that couples elope so that they can stay within a particular budget. This is rarely the reason that couples elope. All that comes with a bigger wedding can simply not match the personality of a couple. That’s exactly how Shelby & Sam felt.

Day After Session

Shelby & Sam wanted a good amount of variety in their images. They didn’t want to just have photographs on the beach. They did what most of my wedding couples do and booked a “Day After Session”. It’s no secret that these sessions are my favorite!! The day after the wedding, we met up on the other side of Maui (Maui requires a lot more driving than people think!) and started the adventure. First, we went to one of my favorite lush forests on the island. There really is no other location like it. The way the vines cascade down the trees make you feel like you’re in some sort of magical fairytale. Then, we headed to a cliffside location. We hiked around a bit to get the best views. I’m always so amazed by my brides and their ability to hike in a wedding dress. When it’s windy, the material of a wedding dress makes it really difficult. Sam did such an amazing job!!

Shelby & Sam, thank you SO much for spending two days in a row with me. I had a blast witnessing the two of you become husband and wife. Come back to Maui soon 🙂

Amazing team that made it all possible:

No Ka Oi Media – Film

Bree Rubin – Hair & Makeup

Ernest Pua’a – Officiant

I’d love to hear about your Elopement Plans! You can contact me here to bounce around ideas to make it the best day ever.
